The Lumineers

My time in Cape Town, besides being hard at work on my thesis, was also a lot of fun. Months before I had even planned to be in Cape Town during November and December working on my MSc Christine and I booked tickets to see The Lumineers in concert at Kirstenbosch Gardens. So on the 5th December 2014 Christine and I joined the hoards many hours too early streaming into Kirstenbosch hoping to claim a good spot of grass for our picnic and the concert. It was absolutely fantastic! We had to wait in line for the venue set up within Kirstenbosch to open but sitting outside in the sun just chatting wasn't all that difficult! Once inside we claimed a good spot on the hill for our blanket, and settled in for some more waiting, while nibbling our picnic treats! Majozi opened for The Lumineers doing a great job, but of course everyone was waiting for the main act! When The Lumineers came on stage everyone surged to their feet, and we didn't sit down for the next few hours. The venue was beautiful, the music was incredible, and the show was fantastic, all together? AWESOME!

Two Oceans Aquarium

Also while in Cape Town writing up Lisa, Juluiene and I made use of our student status and went to visit the Two Oceans Aquarium on 26 November 2014. What fun! We timed our visit to see the talks at each of the main exhibits and have time to slowly walk through the aquarium. It was fascinating, but also sad to see some of these majestic creatures in captivity. I learnt a lot from the various talks and informative boards at each tank, and definitely could have spent more time perusing!
