At
long last I made my first trip to the University of Cape Town. A six and a half
hour drive is rather taxing, although I had company until Somerset West. The
traffic in Cape Town is crazy. I am through and through a small town girl, all
the craft shops and pumping restaurants in the world can’t convince me that it is
worth staying in Cape Town, although the squirrels (!) are pretty cool. However, besides the traffic, all in all I think it
was a worthwhile trip. I was able to meet my supervisor Peter Ryan, and have a
good chat about the project which left my brain full and buzzing. And as a huge
treat I was also able to catch up with some lovely ladies who I haven't seen in
what felt like years!
The UCT campus really is beautiful, and a hub of student activities.
Hi Alan, I have started my MSc this year looking at 3 breeding colonies of Kelp Gulls in Plettenberg Bay. Peter Ryan and Mark Brown are my supervisors. Looking forward to getting stuck into field work in the breeding season but for now doing the prep and writing while I still have the time!
Hi - I didn't realise you would be starting a study at CT - at the Fitz no less. What is the study?
